Jan. 25: Kindergarten Registration Begins, Lynbrook College Student Volunteers in Nicaragua

Five things of interest in the village on Tuesday.

Here are five things of interest in Lynbrook today:

1 — After a weekend of frigid temperatures, Tuesday will see more mild weather, with a high near 38 degrees and dropping to 30 degrees at night.

2 — The Per Sempre Mens Lodge 2344A Order Sons of Italy in America will hold a general meeting from 8-10 p.m. at its headquarters at 815 Sunrise Highway in Lynbrook. New members are always welcome to help the organization that helps raise money for many scholarships and local charities.

3 — The Lynbrook Public Library will be hosting "Snowman Cupcakes" at 7 p.m. Teens in grades 6-12 are welcome to come make cupcakes with a baking coach. Registration is required for this program.

4 — A Lynbrook college student recently took a trip to Nicaragua to help deliver medical care and make educational presentations for people. Visit Lynbrook Patch later today for the full story.

5 — Registration for kindergarten begins today at the Lynbrook School District , located at 111 Atlantic Avenue. If your home school is Marion Street School, you can register today and Thursday. If you need a registration packet, call the district's Central Registrar at (516) 612-5490. (Children are eligible to enter kindergarten if they are residents of the Lynbrook School District and five years old on or before Dec. 1, 2011.)
