Jan. 25: Moms Wanted, Board Meetings and More Things to Know

1. Firefighter Tax Breaks: The West Hempstead Board of Education will reconsider to offer tax breaks to volunteer firefighters living in the school district. During the December business meeting, representatives from theand made their case before the board, but were At the Jan. 18 school board meeting, the board decided to put this issue back on the table and will further discuss the matter tonight at a special business meeting scheduled for 7:30pm at the Board Room. In order for the tax incentives to be available to firefighters this year, the motion would need to pass prior to Feb. 1. 
2. Moms Know Best: Patch is looking for smart, funny and insightful moms in Malverne and West Hempstead to become a part of our Mom Council. Next week, Malverne-West Hempstead Patch will launch a new series of features for the moms in town. Part of that includes assembling the first-ever Malverne-West Hempstead Patch Moms Council, an advisory board that will work with the editors of this site to keep us on top of the latest family related issues and happenings in the community. 4. More Important Meetings: In addition to the West Hempstead School Board, the following groups will also hold meetings tonight: The Malverne Music Parents Meeting will be held in the band room of at 7p.m. The Board of Trustees will meet at 8p.m. The Town of Hempstead will also hold a public hearing at 10:30am at One Washington Street in Hempstead.
5. Little League Registration: Sign up your child for the , Cong. Eitz Chaim and Little League before Jan. 31 to take advantage of the early bird special. Save $5 for your first child and $10 for your second child prior to Monday. For more information, click here.
