Jan. 29, 30: Church Open House, Towns Around Us

Here are five things you need to know for this weekend:

1 — The Lynbrook area may see some snow this weekend, likely on Saturday afternoon, but it isn't expected to more than an inch. Temperatures will hover near the mid-30s, with lows of around 20 degrees at night.

2 — The village's gymnastics program for boys and girls ages 6-12 will be held at Marion Street School on Saturday from 9-10:30 a.m. Registration is $75 per child. For more information, call (516) 599-8300.

3 — will hold an open house on Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This Sunday kicks off Catholic Schools Week and is an excellent opportunity for residents to learn about the school, which offers courses from a nursery level up to eighth grade. For more information, call (516) 593-4884.

4 — A practice exam for the Kaplan ACT/SAT Combo Test will be held at the Lynbrook Public Library from 10 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. You can check your results on Feb. 8 from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
