July 29: Crimes Nearby, Reptiles Invade Library

Five things you need to know today in Lynbrook.

The following are five things you need to know today in Lynbrook and/or on Patch:

1 — A chance of showers and thunderstorms is in the Friday forecast for the Lynbrook area. A high temperature of 86 degrees is expected, with gusty winds and heavy rain possible in the evening, when the temperature drops to around 72 degrees.

2 — The Lynbrook Public Library will be hosting the "Fun-tastic World of Reptiles" at 2 p.m. today. Erik's Reptiles will have bring some critters to show children ages 4 and up. You must register for this program. Call the library at (516) 599-8630 for more information.

3 — One Lynbrook resident was so excited for the end of the National Football League lockout that he wrote a song and created a music video about the New York Giants. Patch will have the story later today.

4 — Every Friday on Lynbrook Patch, we'll be posting a list of recent crimes that took place in the areas surrounding Lynbrook. It's an article we like to call "Crimes Nearby." Check it out later today.
