June 9: Open Houses, Book Buddy Sign-Up, Varsity Sports Recognition Night

Five things you need to know today in Lynbrook.

The following are five things you need to know today in Lynbrook and/or on Patch:

1 — If you thought yesterday was hot, just wait until this afternoon, when the temperature is expected to reach a high of 95 degrees. The potential for rain and thunderstorms exists in the evening hours, helping to lower the temperature to about 70.

2 — The Lynbrook Public Library is holding its Book Buddy registration from 6-8 p.m. tonight. Teens entering grades 6-12 can register — bring a guardian and your summer schedule so you can select service hours that work for you. For more information, call the library at (516) 599-8630.

3 — Every Thursday on Patch, we'll be running a guide to weekend open houses being held in Lynbrook. Look out for that story later today.
