Local Services for Rosh Hashanah

A schedule of services in Malverne and West Hempstead to celebrate the Jewish New Year.

The celebration of the Jewish New Year started at sunset Wednesday and will continue until nightfall on Friday.

Rosh Hashanah, meaning "Head of the Year," marks the anniversary of the creation of Adam and Eve, the first man and woman, and how their first actions influenced mankind's relationship with God.

As chabad.org explains, "Rosh Hashanah thus emphasizes the special relationship between God and humanity."
