Lynbrook Events Happening Early Next Week

Snap back to reality in the midst of the Fourth of July weekend.

So there's a three-day weekend coming, and likely the only thing on many people's minds is where they're going for the Fourth of July.

Fortunately, we at Lynbrook Patch have compiled a list of some things to know this weekend and in the early part of next week so you can mark your calendars before hitting the beaches!

SUNDAY

On Sunday, July 3, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Lynbrook Chamber of Commerce will host a Craft & Vendor Fair in the Astoria Federal parking lot (located on Merrick Road next to Lynbrook Village Hall). All fully paid members of the Chamber are entitled to a complimentary booth. Contact the Chamber at (516) 599-3436 for more information.

MONDAY

  • If you're looking for a fireworks show — which Lynbrook is not hosting for the Fourth of July — you can head over to the Stars and Stripes Festival at the Main Street Waterfront in East Rockaway. From noon to 11 p.m., there will be activities for children, food, music, dancers, a guest appearance by Long Islander and American Idol contestant Robbie Rosen, and a fireworks show at 9 p.m.
  • The Lynbrook Public Library and Lynbrook Post Office will be closed for the Fourth of July. Both reopen under normal hours on Tuesday.
  • No summer classes will be held in Lynbrook schools on Monday.

TUESDAY

  • The Lynbrook Board of Education meets at 7:30 p.m. for its annual Reorganization Meeting. The venue has yet to be determined. This is traditionally a long meeting, folks, so grab a coffee beforehand.
  • Students in grades 6 and up can take part in a Stop-Motion Animation class at the Lynbrook Public Library from 7-8:15 p.m. Learn how to use models for frame-by-frame digital imaging. There is limited space, so register by calling the library at (516) 599-8630.
