Mel - thank you for coming to Malverne once again. If the next six weeks are anything like the prior six weeks then we are doing fine. I would also like to thank everyone who turned out to make Mel feel at home and those who were cheering him on as he came out to make his yearly prediction. See you next year...

@ Peter Robideau - We couldn't agree more! Tara wants Malvernites (and WH residents) to get the news as it comes in! Jaime Sumersille Regional Editor, Nassau County

Thank-you to all who came to our wonderful Village of Malverne to witness the prediction of our beloved Groundhog, Mel. We truly appreciate the support of our residents...and to those that do not call Malverne home, we are amazed at the distance people will travel to join in on our local festivities! Praise to all those who helped make this event a success...as the saying goes..."it takes a Village!"

So what does everyone think of Mel's predictions of more winter and a Giants Super Bowl win?
Bob February 02, 2012 at 04:53 PM
Mel, Sorry we missed you, but we are down on Hilton Head Island,SC and the weather couldn't be finer. I know you had a great time in Malverne Bob and Cheryl

Sounds nice Bob. I'm happy you could share in the day's festivities through Patch. Enjoy the rest of your vacation!

Jaime - Given your title of Regional Editor, Nassau County I assume that you are Tara Conry's manager. I highly suggest that you give Ms. Conry a huge raise - considering the success that she has had in Malverne and West Hempstead with the Patch. After the mayor Tara is the most visible and recognizable person in Malverne providing a tremendous and much appreciated service. Regards, Paul Brandel

Great video Tara! As a New England native, I hope Mel's prediction about the Giants is off:)
