  1. Update on Brown Water/Courtesy Hotel: Residents who attended the West Hempstead Community Support and Civic Association's meeting on Monday got an earful about key issues affecting the area. A representative from Mill Creek Residential, the new owner of the infamous, and from Long Island American Water Company, the utility that's been getting heat for providing its customers with both responded to residents' concerns. They also provided updates on projects they are working on, letting those in attendance know when they can expect to see the Courtesy demolished and apartments erected in its place, and when out-of-service water wells will be back online. Get the full story later today.
  2. Residents React to $5 Fees: Chase Bank, which has branches in both Malverne and West Hempstead, is introducing a $5 ATM fee in some parts of the country that would affect non-customers withdrawing cash from its machines. The fee, which is double the norm, could go nationwide. Patch sent a reporter with his video camera out to Hempstead Avenue to see what locals had to say about high Chase fees. Watch the video report at 8 a.m. today.
  3. St. Paddy's Photos: People around the country decked themselves in green and celebrated their Irish pride, regardless of their ethnicity, last Thursday and local residents were no exception. Patch captured the festivities at Connolly Station in Malverne and across the street at Schwartz Family Chiropractic, where  tensions were high as residents waited with baited breath to see if the judges would crown their Irish Soda Bread recipe the best in the land. See the photos at 1 p.m. today.
  4. Spas and Ladies Night Out: Everyone needs a day of pampering or a night out with friends to release the stresses of the work-week. Today Patch gives its recommendations of the top spas in the local area and invites you to attend "Ladies Night Out" at Maurice W. Downing School.
