March 4: Lynbrook Crime Report, School Board Talks About Next Year's Budget

Five things of interest happening in Lynbrook and/or on Patch today.

It may be Friday, but there are still plenty of things happening in Lynbrook and/or on Patch. Here are five of them:

1 — There's a new development in a Lynbrook crime that took place late last year. Patch will have that story and additional village crime reports from the past week.

2 — Earlier this week, Gov. Andrew Cuomo expressed an interest in capping salaries of school district superintendents, a measure he says will save taxpayers money. See how state and local officials are reacting to the proposal in a story on Patch later today.

3 — On Wednesday, the Lynbrook Board of Education held its second of three budget workshop sessions. See how administrators are planning to spend money on capital projects and sports and performing arts programs in a Patch story later today.

4 — Looking for something cheap and fun to do tonight? Head over to the Lynbrook Public Library at 6 p.m. for Family Fun Night, an evening of free entertainment for the whole family. The event includes games, pizza and other refreshments. Registration is required for this program. Call the library at (516) 599-8630 for more information.

5 — By now, you've probably heard of Robbie Rosen, the Merrick resident in the top 24 on American Idol. But what you may not have known is that his grandmother is a resident at Atria Lynbrook. Late last night, Patch posted a story on Atria's residents gathering to watch Rosen perform. In case you missed it, you can read the story .
