A look at the top headlines for this Tuesday in Malverne and West Hempstead.

After several long months spent scrutinizing expenses, debating the proposed tax hikes and wondering whether the school budgets for Malverne and West Hempstead will pass or fail, the community members will finally have their say.

  2. School Board Races: In West Hempstead, two incumbents are running unopposed for re-election to the school board, but in the Malverne school district there is a wild card. Donald Pupke is vying for current Board President Patrick Coonan's seat as a write-in candidate. (Pupke threw his hat in the ring too late to earn a spot on the ballot.)
