Five things you need to know today in Lynbrook.

The following are five things you need to know today in Lynbrook and/or on Patch:

1 — Still have some sick days you haven't used? Well, today may be a good day to get "sick," with a high of 71 degrees expected in the Lynbrook area. Grab a book and head to or get some shopping down along Atlantic Avenue.

2 — With all the great restaurants in Lynbrook, sometimes it's hard to choose just one. So tonight, don't. Instead, head over to the Knights of Columbus hall, where the Lynbrook Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring "A Taste of Lynbrook."

Dozens of village restaurants will have cooked up their best dishes for residents to try, with all proceeds from ticket sales being used toward the cost of installing two steel columns from the World Trade Center wreckage at the village's 9/11 memorial, fundraising for Lynbrook's Relay for Life, and for the Lynbrook Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Fund.
