1 — The Centennial/Memorial Parade is finally here. At 8:45 a.m., an assembly will be held at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2307. The parade steps off at 9:45 a.m., followed by an 11 a.m. ceremony at the Doughboy Memorial.

3 — You'll likely have to stand in the rain to watch today's parade, as showers and thunderstorms are expected this morning. A high temperature of 84 degrees is forecast.

4 — Mark your calendars for the annual book sale at the Lynbrook Public Library, hosted by the Friends of the Lynbrook Library. The sale begins on Thursday. Visit the library website for more information.

5 — If the rain puts a damper on your Memorial Day barbecue plans, you may want to look into taking out food for the afternoon or evening. Be sure to check out Patch's business directory for a listing of local restaurants.
