New Leadership Takes Over Malverne School Board

Board elects Danielle Hopkins to the position of president.

Leadership of the Malverne school board changed hands Tuesday night as Dr. Patrick Coonan passed the torch to Danielle Hopkins, who will now serve as president.

Coonan, who was re-elected in May, will continue to serve on the board as a trustee, but he nominated Hopkins to take over his post. Trustees Karen Aker and Marguerite O'Connor were selected for the positions of first and second vice president respectively.

The board then voted unanimously to approve the three nominations and the new officers, along with Coonan and Superintendent James Hunderfund, took an oath of office.
