Nov. 16: The Race to Nowhere, New Lighting Project

A rundown of today's major events and announcements.

  • The Lynbrook PTA Council is sponsoring a showing of the acclaimed movie, at Lynbrook High School  at 7:30 p.m. The movie raises important questions about the education system in this country and specifically, the pressures on teenagers to perform well on tests.
  • Lynrbook Mayor William Hendrick will kick off the new lighting project by using a basket crane to replace the first streetlight with a solar panel light-emitting diode (LED) light. The new community lighting and energy conservation project is expected to save the village more than $4.4 million over next 15 years. Take place 9:30 a.m. at 51 Lennox Ave. in Lynbrook. 
  • The Lybrook Baptist Church holds a tonight at 7:30 p.m.
  • A Divorce Support Group takes place tonight 7:30 p.m. in Oceanside. Check out the for more info. 
  • The Lynbrook library holds at 6:30 p.m.
