Oct. 7: Merit Students, Undefeated Volleyball

Five things you need to know today in Lynbrook.

  • Four Lynbrook High School seniors were recently named "Commended Students" in the 2012 National Merit Scholarship Competition. Come back today at noon to see who they were and what they've done to receive the honor.
  • In case you missed it, the Lynbrook Board of Education held its regularly scheduled monthly meeting earlier this week. Student drug and alcohol use was the main topic of discussion after students completed an anonymous survery earlier this year. Click to read the full story.

  • After winning just two games all of last season, the Lynbrook Owls girls volleyball team improved to 10-0 after sweeping Valley Stream South. The Lady Owls have come together behind first-year coach .
  • After temperatures finally started to drop this past week, it looks like Lynbrook is in for one more amazing weekend in the sun. It is expected to be nothing but sunny all weekend according to Weather.com, with a high of 77 on Saturday and a high 82 on Sunday -- so make sure you spend some time outside this weekend Lynbrook!
