Sept. 15: Soccer, Flood Zones and Carnival

Five things you need to know today in Lynbrook.

Good morning, Lynbrook! Here are five things you should check out for this Thursday, Sept. 15:

1. Expect to see some showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon today, according to the National Weather Service. Highs will be around 78 degrees and the chance of rain will be 60 percent.

2. Check out our of this year’s Lynbrook High School boys soccer team. The Owls are ready to jump back into action!

3. Yesterday, Patch posted a story about how Senator Charles Schumer recently announced a deal that would remap some of the area’s controversial flood zones. The new deal would call for FEMA to remap parts of Valley Stream and the Town of Hempstead that were added to the Jamaica Bay flood zone during a study in 2009. Find the full story .
