Sept. 21: West Nile Spraying, Stitches From the Heart and a Community Forum

Five things you need to know today in Lynbrook.

Good morning, Lynbrook! Here are five things you should check out for this Wednesday, Sept. 21:

1. Today will bring another chance of some rain showers, according to the National Weather Service. Skies will be mostly cloudy with high temperatures reaching 75 degrees.

2. In case you missed it, Nassau County’s Department of Health announced that they will be spraying targeted areas of the county this week to combat the West Nile virus. Lynbrook is scheduled to be sprayed beginning at 7 p.m. tonight through 2 a.m. Thursday morning. Find the full story .

3. The Lynbrook High School girls swim team will hit the water again today for starting at 4:30 p.m. at . They will be facing off against Oceanside High School. Take a trip over to the pool to cheer on the home team!

4. Head over to the today at 6:30 p.m. to participate in “Stitches From the Heart,” which is a group of yarn and fabric crafters who make items for those in need. They send finished goods to hospitals, charities and community centers nationwide. Feel free to bring a project or start a new one at the meeting.

5. The Strategic Planning Committee (SPC), a group that is dedicated to developing a five-year plan to present to the Lynbrook Board of Education, will hold a tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Lynbrook High School. All residents are invited to attend and give their input.
