UPDATED: Storm Could Bring Extra 13 Inches of Snow

As much as 13 inches could fall on Malverne and West Hempstead by morning.

Expect the flurries that have been falling on Malverne and West Hempstead throughout the day to let up later this afternoon, but more snow - much more - is on the way.

The NOAA-National Weather Service is forecasting another 5 to 8 inches will drop on the area tonight, mainly before 5a.m. Thursday. This would add to the 3 to 5 inches of new snow accumulation they expect to measure around 2p.m. today, when the flurries are expected to switch over to a mix of snow and sleet.

Tonight the snow could be heavy at times and conditions blustery, with a north wind between 16 and 22 mph and gusts as high as 33 mph.
