What We At Patch Are Thankful For

On Thanksgiving, staffers offer their thoughts.

We at Lynbrook Patch asked our staffers to explain what they are most thankful for this Thanksgiving.

"As corny as it sounds, I'm thankful for my family. My sister just got some skin cancer cut off her nose and both my kids were sick this week. Makes you thankful for everyone being happy and healthy." — Dana Klosner-Wehner

"I am thankful that there is a light at the end of the dark, expensive, corrupt tunnel living on L.I. and I have found a better way of life elsewhere." — Frank Koester

"In a year of ups and downs, I'm thankful just to have my sanity. Without friends and family, the hard times would be unbearable. I am thankful that there are people who care about me, support me, and put up with me every day.

"And I am thankful to live in a place where there is so much pizza.

"That's the greatest gift of all." — Dave Coonan

"I am thankful for my family and all the love and support we have for each other. My husband and children support all that I am doing and I am so grateful for the support. I am also thankful for finding work during this very difficult recession and giving my family a chance to make it through it, with a roof still over our head.

"I am thankful to be able to be a writer, which has been a lifelong dream and being able to help other parents out there during the difficult years with teens. Lastly, I am thankful for all the supporters/readers of my work who give me the inspiration to keep following my dream." — Cindy Springsteen

"Aside from the usual things in my life that I'm grateful for — family, friends, good health, a nice home, etc. —  I'm thankful that in my mid life I discovered the joys of volunteerism. I've been actively volunteering for several years with my church's youth ministry, and I have recently starting sharing some of my down time with a local cat rescue organization. I don't think you can really appreciate your own life until you've helped someone else." — Sue Grieco

"I am thankful for our first year in a new home with wonderful neighbors, for my friend Rosemarie and her baby surviving through an emergency delivery, for a healthy family, a supportive husband, and work that I love." — Kathy Leistner

"I'm thankful this year for having a job that provides health insurance and that I don't hate going to. I'm thankful for having off for the day off, one of the few times since college.

"I've always been grateful to my parents for being people that are as close to being absolutely nice and pleasant to anyone they encounter as anyone could be, and for having always been kind and loving to me, probably to a fault. And I'm grateful that I still have opportunities to write." — Matt Belevich

"I am thankful to have a good job, loving family and to live in a country where I am free to pursue a happy and healthy life. I am also thankful that come April 2011, I will have a chance to defend freedom while serving on active duty in the United States Coast Guard!" — Andrew Vardakis

"I am thankful for my family, friends and for a job that I enjoy in these tough times. I am also thankful for all the people above, who contribute their time, energy and great stories to the site every week. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone." — Mike Russo
