Malverne Girl Scouts Donate Baskets of Food

The Malverne Girl Scouts are in a giving mood this holiday season.

The Our Lady of Lourdes Junior Troop 2179 had a successful "Mags and Munchies" program for 2013, putting together and donating baskets of cat food for Courageous Cats Rescue, dog food for Ruff House Rescue and Thanksgiving non-perishable food items for Our Lady of Lourdes food pantry.

“Not only were the girls able to give back to these Malverne community organizations but they really enjoyed working together to provide baskets of food on their own,” said Lisa Cataldi, Co-Leader Troop 2179.

“While putting together the Thanksgiving baskets the girls made Turkey ornaments," she said. "They were so excited, one scout exclaimed, 'We’re making our own Turkeys and helping feed our community!'"
