Baldwin Local Launches Fundraiser for LI Ovarian Cancer Nonprofit

Goal of $1,000 set.

A Baldwin woman has launched a Go Fund Me campaign hoping to raise $1,000 to support the Long Island chapter of the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition.

The money raised will be added to proceeds from a Jan. 17 event in Westbury to support the organization.

"Your donation will go towards raising awareness, promoting education, increasing the survival rate, and improving the lives of women with Ovarian Cancer," wrote Táimese Revell, who posted the campaign on the crowdfunding site.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, New York has one of the highest rates of ovarian cancer in the county, joining Connecticut, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Washington, West Virginia, and Wyoming.
