Malverne Teacher Named Educator of Distinction

By Danielle Lambert, Syntax

Tim Young, a business teacher at Malverne High School, was recently selected as a Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction by the National Society of High School Scholars.

Young was nominated for the award by his former student, Elizabeth Rojas, for serving as a role model to students and for his outstanding dedication and commitment to excellence in the classroom. Mr. Young received notification of the honor in November with a letter and certificate from the society.

In order to nominate Mr. Young, Elizabeth had to submit an essay describing how he has made a significant contribution to her academic career. Her essay described how the interview skills from her financial management class helped get her into the “People to People” program.
