Two teachers from Maurice W. Downing Primary School in the Malverne School District have received National Board Certification from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.
This highly prestigious accomplishment has been bestowed upon physical education teacher Joe Dunn and second-grade teacher Katie Smyth. National certification requires completion of a rigorous application process and is given only to highly distinguished professionals.
Mr. Dunn is actually the first physical education teacher on Long Island to receive this distinction.
The district congratulates Mr. Dunn and Ms. Smyth on receiving this well-deserved honor.
