What's Open, Closed on Thanksgiving in Town?
Thanksgiving Day is a nationally recognized federal holiday.
Find out what's open and closed in Malverne, West Hempstead and Lynbrook on Thursday, Nov. 28:
Closed
- All school districts
- Government offices at the local, state and federal level, including the post office and department of motor vehicles, Lynbrook and Malverne Village Hall.
- Garbage collection schedules have changed in the Town of Hempstead. Schedules can be found here.
- Libraries
- Banks
- The stock market
- The Nassau Inter-County Express bus will be running a Sunday Schedule in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. More details can be found here.
- Most retails stores are closed
- LIRR: Additional trains will operate on Thanksgiving Day, and as an extra bonus, off-peak fares will be in effect for the entire four-day holiday weekend. More details can be found here.

- Certain supermarkets are open for limited hours, call ahead
