Malverne Resident Receives $1,500 Scholarship from NEFCU

Kaitlyn Ward, a resident of Malverne, was awarded a $1,500 scholarship through the "NEFCU Making a Difference College Scholarship Program for Student Teachers and Graduate Students" for her commitment to the Long Island educational community. 

“We would like to recognize Kaitlyn for the hard work and dedication she has shown at Molloy College,” said Valerie Garguilo, Vice President of Marketing & Community Relations at NEFCU. “We are proud of the difference Kaitlyn has made in the Long Island community and we are excited to see what her future holds.”

“My experience was great,” said Ward, who is majoring in Childhood/Special Education. “I was able to learn many things that I will be able to use in my future as an educator.”

The NEFCU Scholarship Committee recognized four student teachers from Long Island colleges and universities for their exemplary academic achievements.

To receive the NEFCU Making a Difference College Scholarship Program for Student Teachers and Graduate Students applicants were asked to answer the question, “What are the financial needs and expectations for attracting and retaining the Gen Y banking customer?”
