There were 115 potholes reported to the Town of Hempstead Highway Department in early 2011, compared with 127 in 2010. However from Jan. 1 through the end of March this year, there have been 336 pothole inquiries.

"Please note that we count inquiries, not potholes -- there may be more than one pothole at a given location," a highway department representative stated.
