West End Welcomes Back Students WIth Picnic [Photos]

Lynbrook elementary school students, faculty and families enjoy food and fun.

Students, teachers, staff and families of Lynbrook's West End Elementary School celebrated the start of a new school year on Sept. 7 at the annual Welcome Back Picnic. Gorgeous weather set the scene for families to gather on the field as children played football, catch, and tag while enjoying being with their friends.

Festivities included DJ Doug, who played top dance hits and kept the floor crowded with hula hoop and limbo contests.  Attendees were able to enjoy a delicious hot menu of dinner items and snacks from Fasullo's.  Jennifer Derrig, a West End parent, showcased her talents by face painting children with creative designs and beautiful colors.

The PTA accepted membership forms and raffled off a beautiful basket of West End merchandise to winner Danielle Lavignani.  Parents were encouraged to utilize the free Child Identification Card program made possible by the PTA.

West End parent, Bill Wren, sold T-shirts to support the Lynbrook Scholarship Fund, which grants money to this year's seniors for college.  There were also yummy goodies provided by parents and other West End fundraising efforts to kick the year off.  Here's to a great start!
