This Week's Top Picks: June 7-10

This weeks top picks for events on Long Island

Before I share this weeks finds, I am going to ask you guys out there for some advice. I am having some writers block. Dum dum dummmm.

What topics would you want to read about as parents on our blog? Are there questions or topics that you have strong opinions about and would like to hear and become involved in a debate? Patch readers, you are our only hope (Star Wars reference ... Anyone? Anyone?).

Okay, okay, here are the events:

Thursday

Lynbrook's Farmers Market: It's great, it's local and it's a nice way to get some really good produce! Make sure to get there early for the best of the best available.

When: 7 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Where: Behind Atlantic Avenue on Forest Ave, Lynbrook, NY, 11563.

Friday

The 15th Annual Belmont Festival in Garden City: I did not know that this is a thing, but it is, and I want to go! There will be live music from Fivestone Rock Band, Jerry and the Newcomers and more! Restaurants will compete for the best wings in a "wing off." There will be activities, great food and more!
When: 6-10 p.m.
Where: Seventh Street, Garden City, NY, 11530.

Saturday and Sunday

Plattduetsche Park Festival: This is a great event for the whole family. There are rides for the kiddies, amazing German food and amazing POLKA music, which is not to be missed on Sunday afternoon (Yes, I am a closet polka fan. If you don't know what polka is, listen to Weird AL Polka mix ups -- you'll be a fan too!) Sit in the shade in the enormous beer garden and enjoy all of this and more! There will also be something called "Alpine Bell Ringing," which, come on, sounds amazing also. I will definitely be there one of the two days and I really suggest that you guys are too.

For even more events, including Nunley's Carousel 100th anniversary celebration, Blue's Clues live, Craft fairs, more Belmont Festivities, farmers markets and where to celebrate National World Ocean day for free, visit www.themommysguide.com. Until Next time spend your time wisely.
