Disney Planes: Our Review

The Mommy's Guide Review what is surely to be the next great franchise from Disney

My family and I spent Tuesday night at the Deer Park Regal Theater for an advance screening of Disney's “Planes”.  Based on the world of the “Cars” movies, which we all know and love, this film spins a new twist on that world—introducing new characters that thrive in the air and on the ground.  Made in wonderful Disney 3D, this film was as much fun as it was visually breathtaking.  They used the 3D film to the fullest by making you feel as if you are soaring in the sky with Dusty and his friends.

The premise of the movie is a lot like the story of “The Little Engine That Could”.  Dusty, a crop duster from a small off-the-grid town, wants to compete in one of the most famous worldwide flying races.

Although not built for racing, oh and also ironically afraid of heights, Dusty goes for his dream and misses his shot by mere seconds.  Thank goodness that a competitor was caught using illegal racing oil (sound familiar) and was disqualified or we wouldn't have this wonderful movie.  Although just a crop duster, Dusty gets to pursue his dreams with a great cast of sidekicks that help him get to the finish line!

The cast of characters are just great, my favorite though has to be.. actually no, my TWO favorite characters are Chug and El Chupacabra.
