Why is Clearview Cinema Showing '2016: Obama's America'?

Are propaganda movies, negative or positive, something we will see more of in our commercial movie houses in the future, especially around election seasons?

I contacted the Clearview Cinema on Main St. in Port Washington when I saw they were showing in the afternoon and early evening the documentary "2016: Obama's America" by writer Dinesh D'Souza.

The person I spoke to at Clearview Main St. said the film is not a film that shows the president in a good light and no, they have no other film scheduled to balance or rebut this film. I asked for corporate numbers, called, got a nice person who directed my call to someone who did not answer, and I left a message on voice mail. Didn't hear back so I called twice and no one answered.

I watched the trailers of this documentary and read a few reviews, and watched a Youtube Fox interview with Mr. D’Souza.  The documentary seemed to have all the hazy, innuendo rich, conspiracy theories, etc., and, frankly, looked poorly made. It claims to have been based on President Obama’s memoir "Dreams of My Father" and Mr. D’Souza’s books.

At first I was concerned as to whether Clearview, the company, was making a political statement by showing this film and offering nothing to counter it. What I found truly disturbing is that this film is clearly negative propaganda about one person in this country who is running for political office. This is a commercial movie house, not a specialty/art house, a movie house where I took my kids to see "Shrek" among other films.

Do I have to look forward to future election seasons seeing propaganda films, negative or positive, playing at this movie house or other commercial movie houses? It also makes me wonder with all the money in our political system is someone paying to have it be in commercial movie houses?  Yikes!

One of the posters wrote that he appreciates when a poster uses his whole name. What I would really like to see is a picture of Nadine Connors. Just because. And I haveto aree with the poster who wrote (in so mamy words)that this article is one of theworst I've seen on the Patch. I know Nassau Taxpayer and Howard Blankman for two won't agree. But, what the heck that's my opinion.

Settle this like men! The way Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr did!

Geoffrey Walter: A question for you. I read the patch every morning. This Blog Post has been running since Sept.12. It first appeared on the Mineola Patch today. Any reason it took this long to make it to the Mineola Patch or did I just miss it for seven days? Thanks.

I agree. I shouldn't even try. Nassau Tax Payer's nasty gene is too powerful. I can't match it. I really was protesting against Nassau Taxpayer's mean responses to others' comments. He thinks it's peachy to use accusatory rhetoric anonymously. I don't. He writes that I am wrong. I challenged him to prove it. He declined. He changed the subject. I was not espousing any political party. It matters not to me how Americans use their freedom (unless it impinges on someone else's freedom). NT abuses it. My ability to work with both sides of the isle is a matter of record. The September 12th issue of the Port Washington News carries a letter of my special relationship with late Assemblywoman and North Hempstead Supervisor May Newburger. He should read it.

Oops, a typo in last comment. I admit to being a lousy typist and it's difficult to proof one's ownwork. It should read "both sides of the aisle." The "a" is missing. Sorry.
