Best Foodie Day Trips Near Nassau County

We found four delicious road trips that will satisfy your appetite.

Whether you're a foodie who likes to create your own confections or if wine tasting is more your thing, here are four day trips that are perfect for both food pros and novices alike. Great for the whole family or a day-long getaway with your better half, these adventures are right in your backyard and only take one tank of gas (or less) to get there.

Why Go?
There's nothing better than a day trip that lets everyone get their hands dirty (and sweet). Celebrations in the Kitchen is a fun-filled and interactive experience of baking, decorating, and making treats. Be sure to bring the kids— and your sweet tooth.

Must Do:
Gather a group of friends and check out the "Adults Night Out" classes. 

Insider Tip:
Don't overlook the smoothies made at Celebrations in the Kitchen. They're equally as delicious as the baked goods offered.

Celebrations in the Kitchen is open Tuesday through Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Why Go?
 Baiting Hollow Farm Vineyard brings together good wine and a great cause. From red, white, dessert and horse rescue wines to 25 different horses for children to meet, this vineyard has something for all ages to enjoy. An added bonus? Profits from the horse rescue wine sales are contributed to the Baiting Hollow Farm Horse Rescue cause.

Must Do:
Visit rescued former race horses while taking a tour of the paddocks at the vineyard and hear each one's unique story. Kids also cab go on pony rides and get their faces painted.

Insider Tip:
 Bring lunch, as there are picnic tables on the estate. However, if you decide to eat lunch at the outdoor tents, you are required to purchase their food.

The Fine Print:
 Open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Visiting the vineyard is free while tasting sessions vary in price. Find out pricing details here.

Why Go?
For a day trip that will feel like a jaunt to France, visit the Chat Noir Patisserie Tea House. With an array of ever-changing teas and a distinctly French menu, this tea house offers an intimate environment.

Must Do:
Although they specialize in teas, be sure to visit Chat Noir for dinner as well. Its evening menu offerings are just as tasty as its tea and pastry selections during lunch.

Insider Tip: From Thursday through Sunday be sure to come hungry. The dinner menu on these select days includes heartier options like steak.

The Fine Print: Open every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for lunch and Thursday through Sunday for dinner.

Why Go? Travel back in time with the entire family as you explore a historic farm that features herb gardens, greenhouses, orchards and tons of livestock. The Queens County Farm Museum is a serene space where families can learn more about animals, nature and foods like dairy and honey.

Must Do: After touring the grounds and seeing hens, dairy cows, goats and Italian honeybees, pick up some of the farm's unique and delicious raw wildflower honey.

Insider Tip: For a guided tour of the farm, visit on a Saturday or Sunday. Tours are free and you can take the kids on hayrides for $3 per person on those days.

The Fine Print: The farm is open year round from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Adriance Farmhouse Tours take place Saturdays and Sundays from 11am to 4pm. Admissions is free except during public events.
