An Old Favorite: Breaded Veal Cutlets

A perfect dinner that family and friends won't forget.

Who doesn't love a veal cutlet recipe that is tender, moist and delectable and from one of those fancy restaurants? You could create this same veal cutlet at home. This veal cutlet recipe might be what you are looking for. Treat your family to this amazing veal cutlet dish.

An old favorite of mine is breaded veal cutlets. The cutlet that I bought from my kosher butcher, in East Meadow, was enough for 2 people or half  for the next day's dinner. My family likes the cutlet with tomato sauce. I personally like it just breaded.

Ingredients

  • 1 large first cut veal cutlet
  • 1 egg
  • Flour to cover
  • Bread crumbs to cover – I use Jason’s flavored kosher bread crumbs, since it is pareve (you can use it for meat or dairy)
  • Pam – only use original – no meat products

Directions

  1. In a flat bowl drench the cutlet with flour.
  2. Beat the egg in a bowl and cover the cutlet.
  3. In another flat bowl drench the cutlet with the bread crumbs.
  4. Put the cutlet on a baking pan that you have covered with aluminum foil and sprayed with Pam.
  5. Bake at 375 degrees for about ½ to ¾ of an hour, turning the cutlet as it turns golden brown .
  6. Cut into the cutlet to see if it is done.
  7. If you want to use tomato sauce add it about 15 minutes before the cutlet is finished and cover with aluminum foil. (see homemade tomato sauce recipe at end of this recipe).
  8. As an added treat add a sweet pepper to the cutlet.
  9. Serve with string beans, carrots or any other vegetable of choice.

  3. You can serve it as a topping for meat or fish.
  4. For fish you can add a sprinkling of grated cheddar cheese. Do not use cheese if you are putting it on any kind of meat – it’s not kosher!
