Keep Your STAR Power

The following post made by Assemblyman Curran on his FB page alerted all to the fact there will be changes to the manner in which a homeowner applies for the NYS Basic Star Exemption for 2014.

“REMINDER TO ALL HOMEOWNERS: The New York State Department of Taxation & Finance is now requiring homeowners who receive the BASIC STAR EXEMPTION to re-register for it...This DOES NOT affect any homeowner receiving ENHANCED STAR. Only BASIC STAR recipients must re-apply. This is because the State Comptroller's Office found ineligible homeowners were receiving the exemption in 46 of 62 counties.

All BASIC STAR recipients will be receiving a letter in the mail from the Department of Taxation & Finance...but, you may re-register for next year beginning on August 19, 2013 through December 31, 2013 ONLINE at:

Remember this is a “Rebate Program” that in order to qualify for next year’s “School Tax Exemption” requires action by the homeowner, so don’t allow yourself to become “Unredeemed Rebate” statistic! You can apply either thru mail or online, which ever means you choose just get it done it’s your money.
