Patch Question: What Should Be Done with 25 Food Mart?

Property has laid vacant for months.

With the hot topic around East Meadow being the of Sonic Drive-in, some people often forget the vacant property just across the street that was once occupied by 25 Food Mart.

The building sits at the intersection of East Meadow Avenue and Hempstead Turnpike near the entrance to Eisenhower Park, and it has been vacant with no visible progress being made for several months.

All residents can see is the small sign that still says "25 Food Mart" and a large "For Rent" sign. Those interested in making an inquiry on the vacant space should call August James Realty Group at 338-8900.

What would you like to see occupy that spot? Tell us in the comments.

Wouldn't that be lovely? Unfortunately the majority of people in East Meadow would rather have another junk food place...i.e. Sonic. Like Burger King, MacDonald's, Checkers, KFC, Hooters, Friendly's and a myriad of Chinese take-outs and pizza joints aren't enough?

I miss having the 25 Food Mart there. I live a couple blocks behind it and went there fairly often. Though I must say I had two bad experiences with wrapped candy/cake, both of which were bad. Suffice it to say, I didn't do anything about it. But the cold cuts and sandwiches were very good. I too would like a bagel store a little closer to home but I'm happy with Bagelicious. A cafe would be fabulous but I'm betting it's too expensive a proposition and that site may be a bit small. Of course, there are some great entrepreneurs out there. Just how do we find them? Should we put an ad on Craigslist? LOL! As for XYZ's comments - you are funny and a bit sarcastic, just like me. Let's meet when that cafe opens! Hope you all had as fun a 4th as I did.

Leave it as is. Why should East Meadow have something that might generate a few tax dollars for us

Whatever the owner wants !!!

A nice clean deli, (not a bodega), would be good because you can stop in and buy a hero or a coffee and roll and head into the park and sit at a picnic table. I know that we have Duncun Donuts but the coffee is too watered down and the donuts are getting smaller while the price gets higher.
