Teen Accused in Drug Deal, Slashing Arraigned

Students involved in incident reportedly no longer enrolled at Chaminade High School.

Out of class, off the soccer team and out of school, 17-year-old Matthew Sinatro found himself in the Tuesday morning instead of on the grassy field where he was a varsity goalkeeper or behind the classroom desks where he made honor roll.

Accused of slashing another 17-year-old in an alleged , Sinatro sat beside both of his parents in the small corridor just outside the cramped courtroom in a suit and tie, undoubtedly one which would have been worn to his classes at , but which would be out of place for a student now reportedly enrolled in a public school.

Due to the felony charges against Sinatro, he was first arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead, then at the county court house.

Sinatro and the other student allegedly involved in the incident – who has not yet been identified in any report – are reportedly no longer students at the school.

Requests for confirmation or comment from Chaminade administrators was declined. Attorney Albert Gaudelli of Forest Hills, who represents Sinatro, also declined comment.

It is not known where Sinatro, a West Hempstead resident, is currently enrolled. He is due back in court in December.
