Barbarino: Prom, Graduation Not Canceled
Lynbrook superintendent discusses Friday's graffiti incident.
Lynbrook School District Superintendent Dr. Santo Barbarino confirmed Tuesday afternoon that the high school's prom and graduation have not been canceled.
"The prom is not canceled," Barbarino told Patch. "And I heard people say graduation too, that's not canceled."
Multiple parents told Patch that students were allegedly threatened with losing prom and graduation on the last day of classes Friday morning after was found behind Lynbrook High School.

"[Principal] Rainis never said 'If we don't find out who these people are, we're going to cancel the prom' — that was never said," Barbarino told Patch.
A photo sent to Lynbrook Patch Friday morning confirmed that a graphic anti-Semitic phrase, along with several other obscene graffiti markings, was posted on the back of the school.

"The police are doing an investigation and that's as much as we know at this point," Barbarino said. "I believe they're making some progress and we're looking to hopefully get this all resolved as quickly as possible."
