Cops Search For Shooter in Lakeview

Victim en route to Winthrop Hospital as police canvass the area.

One person was shot in Lakeview Tuesday night and cops are continuing to search for the gunman.

The Nassau County Police believe the victim was shot near the intersection of Pinebrook  Avenue and Park Side Road shortly after 10 p.m. The cops are reporting that the gunman fled on foot, hoping over a fence on Pinebrook, while the victim attempted to track him down in his car before stopping to seek help at a nearby home.

The victim is being transported to Winthrop Hospital and police have taken possession of the vehicle he was driving. Nassau and Malverne Police are both canvassing the area, establishing a perimeter and blocking off traffic on Pinebrook, Eagle Avenue and Woodfield Road. A chopper is also circling above.

Around 11 p.m. seven officers along with canines began searching a wooded area in the vicinity.
