Capital One Bank Robbed on Hempstead Turnpike

No one was injured, but the suspect made off with an undetermined amount of cash.

The located at 611 Hempstead Turnpike in West Hempstead was robbed Thursday evening.

According to Nassau County detectives, around 5:10 p.m., the suspect entered the bank and presented a robbery demand note to a teller. After obtaining an undetermined amount of cash, the subject fled the bank on foot heading eastbound toward Nassau Boulevard.

During the robbery there were seven employees and one customer present, police said. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.

The suspect is described as a black male, 40-50 years old, approximately 6-foot-2, wearing a gray puffy jacket, a red and white Yankees baseball cap and silver rimmed glasses.

Police said that a similar robbery involving a suspect fitting the same description took place at the TD Bank located at 252 Peninsula Blvd. in Hempstead just 30 minutes prior to the West Hempstead robbery.
