Car Slams Into Tree Along Parkway in West Hempstead

Lakeview firefighters rescue driver trapped in vehicle.

Lakeview volunteer firefighters were called to an accident early Sunday morning on the Southern State Parkway near Exit 18 in West Hempstead.

The report came in around 4:16 a.m. that a person was trapped inside their car on the westbound side of the parkway and the vehicle was possibly on fire.

The driver had lost control of his car and struck a tree along the side of the parkway. Lakeview firefighters extricated the patient from the car and attended to him. He was transported by Nassau County Police Ambulance in traumatic arrest to Winthrop Hospital.

The current state of his condition is not known at this time. Patch will update this story as new information becomes available.
