Car Slams Into Lynbrook Church

Malverne firefighters and MVAC called to an accident at the Hendrickson Avenue Bible Church Sunday afternoon.

The driver of a Toyota took out a fence and slammed into a church on Hendrickson Avenue in North Lynbrook Sunday afternoon.

Since the crash occurred within the Malverne fire district, Malverne firefighters were called to the scene around 11:45 a.m. on Oct. 23. The Malverne Volunteer Ambulance Corps. (MVAC), Nassau County Police and EMS also responded.

There they found the vehicle lodged about a foot inside the Hendrickson Avenue Bible Church.

Malverne Fire Chief Daniel Morgan explained that the driver, a female who appeared to be in her early 20s, was backing out of the driveway of a home across the street from the church when she apparently lost control. She blew through the fence and smacked into the building.

MVAC transported her to South Nassau Hospital to be treated for neck and back injuries, Morgan said.

As for the church, one of the exterior walls was knocked down. Nassau EMS removed the car and Malverne firefighters surveyed the building for signs of structural damage and then contacted the Town of Hempstead Building Department, who conducted a final assessment.
