Update: Cops Continue Hunt for Lynbrook Burglary Suspect

Cops say they are investigating a possible connection to nearby assault and rape.

A burglary suspect in Lynbrook may be connected to an assault and a rape nearby, according to Nassau County detectives.

"At this time Fourth Squad detectives are investigating and have been in contact with State Park Police to see if there may be a connection with the three incidents," NCPD released in a statement Thursday.

On Aug. 12, police say a man forced his way into a Lois Place home and attempted to choke a female homeowner. Cops say the man may also be responsible for an attack on a woman in Valley Stream the same evening as well as a Valley Stream rape.

In Lynbrook, a 58-year-old female victim observed a black male, approximately 5-foot-8 with a thin build, get off a bicycle in front of her Lois Place home at 8:45 p.m. He walked up the front steps and allegedly forced the door open, entering the house. Cops added that he grabbed the victim in an "inappropriate manner over her pants and attempted to remove her jeans," before choking her. The victim was able to call out for help, and a neighbor called police.
