A Nassau man was arrested Friday morning after he allegedly bilked two twin elderly men out of $200,000.
According to detectives, Robert Cohan, 26, of East Rockaway solicited the men in November 2012 to do repair work on the driveway of their Day Street home in Seaford. The twins handed over $14,000 to begin the work.
The following month the victims informed Cohan they wanted to cancel the work and get their money back because it was geting too cold.
Cohan allegedly led the victims to believe in order to receive a refund that they would have to incur processing, transaction, and restocking fees. The victims paid Cohan in excess of $200,000, police reported.
Detectives arrested Cohan without incident at the Day Street residence. Cohan is charged with two counts of Grand Larceny 2nd Degree, Scheme to Defraud 1st Degree, and not having the required Contractors License.
He will be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Saturday.
