Cops: Hofstra Student Found Dead in Dorm

20-year-old Connecticut man found unresponsive in dorm room Friday morning, cops said.

The Hofstra community is mourning the loss of a freshman who was found dead in his dorm room Friday morning.

Officers rushed to Hofstra after receiving a 911 call and found Conor Wynne, 20, of Trumbull, Conn., unresponsive in his room, reported Nassau County Police. Wynne was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:50 a.m. by a Nassau County EMT, cops said.

A medical examiner is determining the cause of Wynne's death, which police say they suspect was not a criminal act.

Meanwhile, thousands of Hofstra students are mourning Wynne's untimely death.

"The entire Hofstra community is saddened by the loss of Conor Wynne," the university wrote on Facebook of the first-year marketing student.

"As a community, we mourn for Conor and extend our thoughts and prayers to his friends and family during this difficult time."

Hofstra is offering student counseling services and other supportive programs for students to help cope with the loss. Read more about the services here.

People should not be able to to make salacious comments, here, without identifying themselves and their connection (if any) to the events in question. Readers need to be cautious about believing or buying-in to those comments posted by people who most likely don't know "Jack".

To Christopher Wendt, Where did "Jack" say anything salacious in his comments on the Hofstra student's death? ALL avenues of the cause of death should be explored...A young man, not yet in his prime, is a most unusual death. As far as I'm concerned, suicide is a criminal act as is homicide. It is still killing someone, even if self inflicted.....By the way, salacious is the wrong word to use in your point of view. I see nothing "salty" in his comments.

Christopher Wendt - who made a salacious comment? A salacious comment refers to speaking about sexual matters in an indecent manor...
