Levittown Man Charged With Manslaughter in Crash…

UPDATE: Cops ID Couple Found Dead in South Farmingdale Home

A man and woman, both in their 70s, were found in a bedroom, dead from apparent gunshot wounds, police said.

UPDATE: Nassau police have identified the woman and man found dead in a South Farmingdale home Tuesday night as Ann Kaplan and Barry Kaplan.

Newsday reported the incident as a murder-suicide. But when asked for confirmation by Patch, Nassau police would not comment.

Earlier on Wednesday, Nassau police said they were investigating the incident in which a man and woman in their 70s were found dead in a South Farmingdale home Tuesday at 8:52 p.m.

Detectives said police received a call for a well check at a Lambert Avenue residence.  When police arrived, they found the 74-year-old woman and the 73-year-old man both deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.

The bodies were removed to the Nassau County Medical Examiner’s Office, police said.

Police initially withheld the names of the victims pending family identification.

Could be a murder suicide and killed by their own gun. Odds favor that scenario. More homeowners and family members killed by their own gun than one by a stranger statistically.

Unfortunately at their age it's sometimes because one is sick and both can not afford treatment. With the cost of long term care and Meds this is a new solution for some. What a sad day in our history when society can not offer help to our seniors. But until a cause is released we are all just guessing..

One thing I don't understand is isn't a murder/suicide obvious? Wouldn't the gun be right there, if not in one's hand?
