Cops: Man Resisted DWI Arrest, Kicked Officer and Police Dog

A Far Rockaway man faces charges after Nassau County Police said he resisted arrest in Lynbrook.

Thomas Shaw, 25, of Far Rockaway, while stopped for a traffic law infraction, was handcuffed and placed under arrest for DWI, according to police. Shaw then reportedly pushed away from the arresting officer, who fell to the ground as Shaw attempted to flee, cops said. A canine officer immediately released his dog, Lex, who apprehended Shaw, cops said.

Shaw continued resisting arrest by kicking the dog and officers, detectives reported. Officers were eventually able to regain control of Shaw and used OC spray to subdue him, cops said. Shaw was treated by an AMT at the scene.
