Cops: Men Break Into Car Dealership, Set Fire to Convertible

The pair fled after setting off the car's alarm, only to return an hour later and set the same car on fire, police said.

Two men allegedly broke into a new convertible at a Lynbrook car dealership early Friday morning, but fled after they set off the car's alarm. According to police, the pair returned an hour later and set fire to the same car.

Police are reporting that two white men wearing hooded jackets entered on Sunrise Highway and broke into a 2012 Audi S5 convertible. After setting fire to the car just an hour later, the subjects fled in a waiting vehicle driven by an unknown third subject. The vehicle was last seen heading eastbound on Sunrise Highway, according to police.

The responded with five trucks and 50 firefighters to extinguish the fire. There was no damage to any other vehicles and no injuries reported.
