Police seeking public's help in getting information about the broad daylight robbery.

Police are searching for information and witnesses in a nearby robbery where a man shot at his victim.

Nassau County Police said a 33-year-old woman was walking on Sunrise Highway in Freeport when a man, armed with a black handgun, approached her. The subject took her cellphone and then told her they were going to walk back to her home and "she was to give him no less than $5,000," police stated.

Once in front of the Randall Avenue home, the victim tried to grab the gun, but the subject pulled away and shot at her, cops said. The two gunshots missed the victim, who fled south on North Brookside Avenue.

The incident happened at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday.

No one was reportedly injured.

The subject is described as a black male, about 21 years old, 6 feet tall, medium build, and medium complexion. He was wearing a black mask, black gloves, dark gray hooded sweatshirt, black sweatpants, and black sneakers.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the robbery to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
