UPDATE: Old Country Road Re-opened After Crash

Infant, two others transported to hospitals; police investigation underway.

A two-car crash has left three people injured, including an infant, and forced the closure of eastbound Old Country Road at Grohmans Lane, Nassau County Police said Wednesday.

An infant was transported to a local hospital after the crash. Two adults were also transported by ambulance to local hospitals, police said. Their conditions could not be immediately learned.

The cause and further details of the crash, which took place in front of the McDonald's Restaurant, could not be immediately learned. Police reported that the roadway has been re-opened as of 12:50 p.m. Wednesday.

Plainview Firefighters were at the scene of the crash and secured the area, authorities said.

That is a busy area, you have cars trying to beat the light to make the turn onto 135, cars trying to exit McDonald's and go east on OCR, Hospital traffic. Very tough spot.

THATS A BUZI SPOT PEOPLE COMING OUT OF SYLVIA LANE/MCDONALD & MAKING A LEFT ACROSS TRAFFIC..NO ONE PAYS ATTENTION ON THE ROADSSS THEY ARE IN A HURRYTO GO NO WHERE..WHAT DO WE DO.. MORE TRAFFIC LIGHTS.. MORE YEILDING..NOTHING WILL HELP.. UNLESS PEOPLE START WATCHING THE ROADS.. I HOPE THAT NO WAS ON THE CELL OR TEXTING.. HOPE THAT EVERYONE IS OK THATS THE MOST IMPORTANT...

Didn't Mr. Wang do a traffic study when he was trying to force his housing development on us? As I recall the study showed that OCR is too narrow for the current level of traffic and would have been swamped by the additional traffic the development would have brought. It was suggested that OCR be made wider near the exchange with 135. This was an unpopular idea.
