Crime Report: Several Pocketbooks, Wallets Stolen in Lynbrook Last Week

The weekly village crime report, courtesy of the Lynbrook police.

The following information was supplied by the Lynbrook Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

Arrests

  • On March 28, Jeremiah Mordi, 18, and Jason Macfadden, 20, both of Valley Stream, N.Y., were arrested and charged with Robbery in the second degree. Police said the robbery occurred on Taft Avenue and Leroy Place in Lynbrook on March 26.
  • On April 13, Hong Wang, 44, and Xiaomei Zhang, 47, both of Flushing, N.Y., were arrested on Merrick Road in Lynbrook and charged with Unlawful Practice of Massage.
  • On April 13, Mario Perez, 37, of Lynbrook, N.Y., was arrested and charged with Menacing, which occurred on Burtis Street in Lynbrook.
  • On April 13, Adrienne Lewis, 39, of Queens Village, N.Y., and Raymond Davis, 48, of Jamaica, N.Y., were arrested at 8:36 p.m. on Peninsula Boulevard in Lynbrook and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance.
  • On April 13, Nile Middleton, 27, of Rosedale, N.Y., was arrested for Grand Larceny and Identity Theft, which had occurred on March 10 at Taco Bell on Merrick Road in Lynbrook. Police say the defendant was an employee of Taco Bell and had taken a credit card that had been used at the drive thru and made several purchases with the card.
  • On April 15, a minor from Hewlett Harbor, N.Y., was arrested and charged with Menacing, which had occurred on Union Avenue in Lynbrook.
  • On April 15, Robert Mayo, 40, of Sandy Springs, Ga., was arrested at 9:30 p.m. on South Nieman Avenue in Lynbrook and charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
  • On April 18, Zafir Mithchell-Bey, 26, of Uniondale, N.Y., was arrested at 11:39 p.m. on Wilbur Street in Lynbrook and charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana.
  • On April 20, Selvin Henriques, 34 of West Hempstead, N.Y. and Reginald Summers, 42, of Hempstead, N.Y., were arrested on Horton Avenue in Lynbrook and charged with Larceny and Criminal Trespass.
  • On April 20, Steven Ranucci, 24, of Lynbrook, N.Y., was arrested at 7:20 p.m. on Broadway and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Marijuana.
  • On April 21, Luis Gonzalez, 30, of Inwood, N.Y., was arrested at 4:10 p.m. on Hempstead Avenue in Lynbrook and charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
  • On April 22, John Mazziotti, 40, of Pawley, Pa., was arrested at 11:25 p.m. on Hendrickson Avenue on open warrants for Aggravated Criminal Contempt and Stalking.

  • Between the hours of 6:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. on April 15, the rear window of a 2002 Toyota was reported broken, causing $250 in damage. The vehicle was parked on Trafalgar Square in Lynbrook.
  • Between the hours of 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. on April 16, a wallet containing several credit cards and $60 was reported stolen from a desk in a doctor’s office on Broadway.
  • Between the hours of 8:15 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on April 19, a pocketbook was reported stolen from an auto parked at on Merrick Road. The window was smashed and the pocketbook — containing a Blackberry Curve cell phone, valued at $150, and credit cards — was reported stolen.
  • Between the hours of 7:20 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on April 19, a cell phone, wallet and credit cards valued at $250 were reported stolen from a 2009 Honda parked at on Merrick Road. Police said the window of the auto was smashed and the property was removed.
  • Between the hours of 4 p.m. on April 20 and 6:30 a.m. on April 21, the door lock cylinder of a 2003 Ford van was reported damaged while parked in the driveway of a business on Forest Avenue. No property was removed from the van, police reported, and the value of the damage was reported to be $200.
  • Between the hours of 5 p.m. on April 20 and 1 p.m. on April 21, a wallet containing credit cards was reported stolen from an unlocked 2010 Nissan which was parked in the parking lot of in Lynbrook.
